About us

  The Dog Grooming Nerd began in May 2020 as a YouTube channel for owner Maria to have a creative outlet during the Covid lockdowns. As with many small businesses, Maria’s previous employer closed in March 2021, and Maria decided that it was time to turn The Dog Grooming Nerd from just a digital entity to a brick-and-mortar grooming salon. 

The salon opened its doors to the public on 19th April 2021, and over the years has welcomed thousands of dogs of all breeds. The salon specialises in dogs with aversions towards grooming (such as anxiety and fear), and the calm 1-2-1 environment of the salon is a key factor in desensitising dogs to the grooming process. 

Maria is fully qualified, and holds the following qualifications:

Level 3 iPet Network Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management 

Level 3 City & Guilds in Intoductory Dog Grooming

Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants
